Space Apps Challenge

The International Space Apps Challenge at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU-APL) is a FREE, local version of the global event, which is composed of more than 100 local events and virtual participation from individuals around the world for ALL ages and backgrounds.

The International Space Apps Challenge is technology development event that draws on the talents and initiative of bright minded volunteers – developers, engineers, technologists, designers, and anyone with a passion and desire to make an immediate impact on the world. The event embraces engagement and collaborations across borders, sectors and populations to bring about paradigm-shifting innovation around the world.

EVENT INFORMATION

The local 2016 event sponsored by JHU – APL takes place on the 23rd and 24th of April, from 9 a.m. – 10 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., on Sunday at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory at 11101 Johns Hopkins Road, Laurel, MD 20723, in the Lobby of Building 200. You will find Building 200 at the South Campus directly across from the Main Campus.

Saturday, April 23rd

9:00 AM - Doors open and registration/team forming begins

10:00 AM - Opening remarks and facility orientation

10:15 AM - 12:00 PM - Work on Space Apps Projects

12:00 PM - 1:00PM Screening Code: Debugging the Gender Gap & break for lunch

1:00 PM - 5:00 PM - Work on Space Apps Projects

5:00 PM - 6:00 PM - Break for dinner

6:00 PM - 10:00 PM - Work on Space Apps Projects

10:00 PM - Close for the night

Sunday, April 24th

9:00 AM - Doors open

9:00 AM - 12:00 PM - Work on Space Apps Projects

12:00 PM - 5:00 PM - Presentations and judging
