SBA INNOVATEHER BUSINESS CHALLENGE 2016

 

Streetsboro OH – Camp Tech Inc. (www.camptechonline.com) has announced it has been selected by The Small Business Administration (SBA) to be one of nationwide sites to host a regional competition for the InnovateHER Business Challenge. The SBA is using this competition to locate and support entrepreneurs that create products or services that have a measureable impact on the lives of women and families.  Companies can be led by women or men.

 

THE SBA IS PARTNERING WITH MICROSOFT TO LAUNCH THIS COMPETITION, AND FINALISTS WILL BE COMPETING FOR CASH PRIZES OF UP TO $70,000.

 

As a host organization, The Refinery will have an open call for applications beginning November 21, 2015.  Three finalists will be selected to pitch to a panel of judges  One winner will be selected by the judges to be the local winner.  The SBA will then identify no more than ten finalists nationally who will have the opportunity to pitch to a panel of judges in Washington, DC and compete for up to $70,000 in prize money by Microsoft.  Competition rules and other guidelines are available at www.SBA.gov/InnovateHER.

CAMP TOYLAND 

 

Camp Tech joined the maker movement of Cleveland, Camp Toyland re-launched it toy and board game curriculum and home kit for youth of all ages to discover the game inventor that's hidden inside of all of us.

 

The Maker Faire was a day filled with creativity and innovators sharing their crafts and gifts with the world. From Google Glass, 3D Printers, Toy Invention to Human Robots controlling cars.

Camp C.O.D.E

Camp Code partook in the Hour of Code that brought computer programing and coding to 1 million youth around the world. Check out the video to the right.

Camp Maker is our maker affliate curriculum designed to accent the Google maker movement and allow makers a space to create, collaborate and make their ideals come to life.

 

It's official we have been award the Makers in Motion 2014 award by Google, as one of the many great organizations world wide that have become affliates of Google Maker Movement

WOMEN OF DISTINCTION
 

 

Candace Benson of Streetsboro was among 15 area women who were recognized by the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio as women of distinction. They will be honored at a luncheon Sept. 25 at The Union Club of Cleveland.
 
Others being honored are Dr. Rachel Talton of Akron, Hilary Sparks-Roberts of Olmsted Falls, Candace Benson of Streetsboro, Ashley Basile Oeken of Olmsted Township, Renee Whittenberger of Akron, Dr. Lolita McDavid of Shaker Heights, Linda Foy of North Ridgeville, Julie Brandle of Kent, Barbara Marlowe of Concord, Annemarie Grassi and Pamela Hubbard both of Cleveland, Stacey Litam of Lakewood, Dr. Suzanne Allen of Fairlawn and Jamie Sullivan of Cleveland Heights.
 
They will be honored for their achievements in business, community, academic and as civic leaders.
The Advancing Women Award will be presented to NASA Glenn Research Center for its commitment to advancing women in the workplace through its NASA Glenn Research Center Women’s Advisory Group. And, Monica Kotyuk and Anna McCue, both from Warren, and Hunter Wells from New Franklin, will be awarded the Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship Award during the event.
